ChatGPT Ads landing-page checklist for Malaysian SMEs
Before paying for ChatGPT Ads, check your offer, service area, contact form and crawler access. A practical landing-page checklist for Malaysian SMEs.
Before you pay someone to manage ChatGPT Ads, open the page your advert will send people to. Can a stranger tell what you sell, where you work and how to enquire? Try it on your phone. A good-looking desktop homepage can hide an awkward booking form.
OpenAI considers landing-page content when matching ads, and reviews the destination against its advertising policies. Our ChatGPT Ads Malaysia guide covers the wider setup. This checklist focuses on the page itself, using official guidance checked on 13 October 2026 and our own practical recommendations. Passing these checks does not guarantee approval, delivery or enquiries.
1. Match the page to the service in the ad
Put the proposed headline beside the page heading. Read both aloud. Would a customer expect the same service from each?
Hypothetical example: a Subang Jaya aircon company advertises servicing for wall-mounted home units. Its homepage mainly promotes commercial installation, with servicing buried below a project gallery. We would point the ad at a clear servicing page, or improve the existing one before buying traffic.
That page should explain what a standard service includes, what needs a separate quotation, and which unit types the team handles. If a price depends on an inspection, say so. Avoid a cheap starting price whose conditions appear only after someone contacts you.
OpenAI's ad-matching guidance names the landing page among its signals. It does not promise that adding particular words will secure a placement.
2. Make the service area and next step explicit
For a local business, geography belongs beside the offer. List the areas you actually serve and explain any travel charge before the customer submits a request. Campaign targeting cannot repair an inaccurate service-area claim on your website.
Use a specific button: "Ask about servicing in my area" gives the visitor more direction than "Learn more". Tell them what happens next and who replies. Only promise a response time your team can meet.
For bilingual pages, check the details in both languages. An English page promising weekend appointments and a Chinese page saying weekdays only creates a problem the ad manager cannot solve. Phone numbers, scope and prices should agree too.
3. Review the whole offer for policy problems
OpenAI's ad policies apply to the creative and landing page together. A permitted headline does not make a prohibited destination acceptable.
Check every claim the page makes. Can you substantiate the qualifications, guarantees and customer quotations? Remove an expired promotion. Obtain permission before using customer material, and never turn an illustrative example into a claimed result.
Hypothetical example: a tuition centre promises "guaranteed exam success" above its enquiry form. A new ad headline will not resolve the unsupported promise on the page. We would ask the owner to describe the actual teaching service and its limits instead.
These are examples of what to inspect, not accounts of campaigns we have run. Eligibility still needs a separate check for the business, offer and intended market.
4. Let the advertising crawler reach the page
A page opening on your laptop does not establish that OpenAI can read it. Its crawler guidance requires access for OAI-AdsBot; OAI-SearchBot is also recommended. For product feeds, the guidance also requires OAI-SearchBot access to product image URLs.
Give your web person the exact destination URL. Ask them to check robots.txt, login requirements, redirects and any firewall or bot challenge that might block automated access. Request a short record of what they checked and any remaining uncertainty.
Do not switch off the site's protection wholesale. Ask for a scoped fix using verified crawler information. A successful technical check helps establish access; it does not establish policy approval.
5. Walk through the enquiry on a phone
Do this before launch, with the person who will answer customers. Use the actual landing URL rather than reaching the page through your usual bookmarks.
- Read the offer without zooming. Check whether a banner covers the contact button.
- Open the WhatsApp link and confirm the business number and suggested message.
- Check a form with a missing required field, then make an agreed test submission and confirm it reached the intended recipient.
- Read the confirmation message. It should explain the next step without implying an appointment is already booked.
Arrange testing so it does not enter the genuine enquiry totals or paid-campaign conversion reporting. A WhatsApp tap alone does not prove a message was sent. Use our enquiry-tracking guide to agree the reporting definitions alongside this page check.
What to send an agency before asking for a quote
Send the intended URL, the service you want to promote, the areas covered, approved business photos and the name of the person handling enquiries. Include known gaps, such as an untested form or a page available in only one language.
Ask for the quotation to separate landing-page work, measurement setup, ad management and media spend. It should state which page work the management fee covers and any separately priced work before you approve it. Also agree who maintains the page when your prices or availability change. An existing service page may need only a few corrections; a full website rebuild should have a stated reason.
Our ChatGPT Ads management service starts with an eligibility discussion, followed by scope, management fee and the proposed test budget. If the page needs substantial work, our web design service is a separate discussion. Bring the URL and the offer you want to sell, and we can assess what needs doing before launch.
